Application Description
HISCOX Content Management System (CMS) is a custom built website content management system. Using the CMS, non-programming staff of HISCOX can create, maintain and update the professional looking dynamic website.
The Content Administration Module allows the users to define the website structure, organize different types of contents (such as text, images, photographs, external urls, etc..) within a page and automatically generate the HTML pages for publishing on the Internet. With easy to use navigation/site structure building features, templates for commonly used sections such as News, FAQ, Career, etc.. and WYSIWYG editor, HISCOX users can build and manage the website content without any knowledge of HTML programming.
The users are categorized into different levels (such as Creator, Reviewer, Approver & Publisher) and the website content goes through a set of approval processes before it is published on the Internet.
Technologies used
The solution employed Microsoft Visual C#.Net an object oriented programming language to build the application. Microsoft SQL Server was employed as the backend data store. A middle tier Microsoft .Net based framework was used to map business objects from the application domain to tables in the Microsoft SQL Server database. Microsoft .Net Remoting provided a mechanism to deploy the application into 3 physical layers: web server, application server and database server.
