Application Name
Denphone VoIP Office Phone Systems
Application Description
Denphone is a range of cost effective PC based IP Telephone (PBX) system. It supports ordinary analogue telephones and devices such as fax machines, as well as IP telephones based on SIP, IAX, and IAX2 and provides features such voicemail and conferencing as standard. Open standards (e.g. SIP and IAX) are fully supported allowing a wide choice of IP telephones - desk and mobile, and providing future upgrade paths.
Denphone telephone systems can be used in a variety of configurations, including mixed environments of new IP phones and older analogue equipment. When two offices have Denphone systems, the servers can be linked through the Internet (for example over a VPN connection) to provide free inter-office calling. In a multi-office installation, the PBX Servers can be linked over the Internet to create a virtual global phone network. Also the Servers can be connected to IP phone service providers to add overseas in-bound and outbound calling in locations where there is no physical office. This is achieved through open standards such as SIP and IAX protocol connections.
Technologies used
Denphone systems are based on the Asterisk open source telephony architecture and support a wide range of PC platforms, configurations and connection options. C programming language is used to add more plug-in/functions to Asterisk. PHP programming language with object-oriented extension was selected to build the web interface. PostgreSQL was employed as the backend data store. UnixODBC was used as the bridge to link from PostgreSQL database to Asterisk Realtime Architecture. The source code control system is maintained by Subversion and ViewCVS 1.0-dev.
