Application Description

SPS (Silk People Suite) is a suite of applications to meet the requirements of the Human Resources Department of the organizations operating in Vietnam. The software has user interface in both Vietnamese and English. The suite addresses the entire activities of Human Resources Management department such as Recruitment, Employee Database Management, Training, Time Management, Compensation and Payroll. The applications of this suite are integrated and very flexible, in terms of defining company structure and company specific allowances and deductions and are in accordance with the regulations of the government for Social Insurance, Union Fees, etc… The system can be implemented in a single user or multi user in LAN/WAN environments. Being in-house developed software, they allow us to customize them to great extent to suit the organization’s individual requirements.

Technologies used

Silk People Suite was originally built as a VB 6 application. Silk Personnel, one of the applications of the of SPS, was the first project at SilkRoad to undergo the “.NET migration” process. The entire application was redesigned and rewritten using the .NET model and framework. SilkRoad was able to significantly improve the performance, usability and robustness of Silk Personnel by leveraging .NET’s CLR (Common Language Runtime) to take advantage of the enhanced power, greater interoperability and flexibility. The .NET version allows SilkRoad to offer customization to Silk Personnel quickly and efficiently.

Result

By successfully migrating the Silk Personnel application from VB6 to the .NET platform, SilkRoad has proved its capabilities in .NET migration projects. The Silk Personnel migration project gave SilkRoad the chance to become an early adaptor of .NET technology. Since then SilkRoad has become renowned for it’s expertise in the .NET model and framework and has built significant expertise in similar migration/porting projects.
